PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION:
Originally from Manila, Philippines, Dr. Yang earned a bachelor’s degree in nutrition from University of Arizona at Tucson. He earned a medical degree from University of the East Manila in the Philippines and completed both his internship and residency in internal medicine at Loyola University program at St. Francis Hospital of Evanston in Evanston, Illinois. He was awarded a fellowship in hematology and oncology at Northwestern University Hospital’s affiliated program at St. Francis Hospital.Prior to joining Arizona Oncology Associates, Dr. Yang maintained a private practice affiliated with the Eastern New Mexico Medical Center in Roswell, New Mexico, where he served as medical director of the cancer center. After completing his professional goals in Roswell, he then went on to Arlington, Texas, joining Texas Oncology the largest single specialty oncology group in Texas. He finally returned home to Tucson to be with his family and to work with Arizona Oncology Associates. He is now working full time at the rapidly growing Oro Valley office.
CERTIFICATIONS:
Dr. Yang is certified in medical oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
HONORS:
Among his many clinical practice interests and accomplishments, Dr. Yang developed and created the Eastern New Mexico Regional Cancer Center in Roswell, developed and implemented the first computerized and paperless patient record system in Eastern New Mexico and developed the first oncology case management nursing system in New Mexico. He also developed radiation therapy services at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center.Dr. Yang is a past member of the New Mexico Society of Clinical Oncology Board of Directors; past president-elect of the New Mexico Society of Clinical Oncology; past member of the Eastern New Mexico Medical Center Foundation’s board of directors; and past chairman of the Cancer Liaison Committee of the American College of Surgeons.
