PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION:
A native of Indiana, Dr. Lucas received his medical doctorate from the Indiana University School
of Medicine and completed a subspecialty residency training program in Radiation Oncology at the
University of Southern California. Dr. Lucas moved to Phoenix in 1992, establishing his practice at
Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center where he was the Medical Director of Radiation Oncology
Services prior to joining Arizona Oncology in November 2008. He is board certified in radiation oncology
with 17 years of experience.
Dr. Lucas has extensive experience with the utilization of advanced technologies including Image Guided
Radiation Therapy (IGRT), Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Stereotactic Radiosurgery
(SRS) and Brachytherapy. He has extensive experience with Brachytherapy for the treatment
Gynecologic and Breast diseases, including the use of various applicators for Accelerated Partial Breast
Irradiation (APBI). Additional special interests include treatment of Prostate, Lung, Colorectal tumors,
Brain tumors and Sarcomas.
CERTIFICATIONS:
Dr. Lucas is certified by the American Board of Radiology-Radiation Oncology and by the National
Board of Medical Examiners.
HONORS:
He is a member of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, American
Brachytherapy Society, American Society of Clinical Oncology and Children’s Oncology Group. Dr. Lucas
is a published writer and speaker on various Radiation topics.
